Every single Christian is in a fight. It’s a fight of faith and most times, it’s a spiritual fight. Jesus commands each Christian to persevere and to stand up in this fight, but sometimes the fight seems to become overwhelming and Christians begin to feel defeated. Satan tries to blind Christians and make them forget the reason they are fighting in the first place so that they’d throw in the towel and give up. Here however, are four reasons I’ve found to stay in the fight.

1You are fighting for your generations to come.

What did you face as a child? Abuse? Divorce? Poverty? Addictions? Bondage? When you take a stand for Jesus Christ and His righteousness, your generations are secure. Look at what you struggle with now and see how it will affect your generations. Are you struggling with a pornography addiction? Pornography addictions lead to marital unfaithfulness, which lead to divorce and destruction. Take a stand for your generations and resolve that they will never face the things you did. Resolve that because you will break the curse, they will grow up in a household where there is peace and pure love. If you can take a stand for your generations to come, everything you suffer, they will not have to suffer and bear.

2Your onlookers are depending on you.

Another reason to stand is because there are people counting on you. There is a crowd looking on hoping that this Jesus thing is for real, hoping that His power truly is strong enough to sustain you. hoping that there is a God that truly does miracles. Through your stand and eventual victory, every person will see the truth of God and his power in your life.

People are depending on you to overcome and you are an encouragement to someone.

Someone is saying “because that person is fighting and enduring, I can do it too.”

3You’ve come too far to turn back now

Hey, so many Christians give up right before their breakthrough. It’s because right before a breakthrough, the enemy intensifies his attack. He wants to discourage you and wants you to feel like giving up. But, if you just press through a bit more instead of giving up all of your former efforts, you’ll see the victory you’ve waited on for so long. If you turn back now, you would have wasted so much time.

4You will see Jesus

The fourth reason to fight is because Jesus is worth the fight. God is worthy of your all and God is enough in Himself to fight for. Jeremiah 2:2 says “Go, and cry in the ears of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith Jehovah, I remember for thee the kindness of thy youth, the love of thine espousals; how thou went after me in the wilderness, in a land that was not sown.”

You can resolve today that God is worthy enough for you to run through a wilderness for. You can decide that even if you don’t know what’s out there, even if its dry, just winning Jesus Christ and seeing Him will be enough. He is the King of Kings and has given you eternal life. He deserves all of your heart.

I do pray that you never give up the fight. A lot is at stake if you do. Cry out to your Lord and put your faith in Him. You will see His glory and He will deliver His elect. Be faithful to Him and persevere.
