You can be surrounded by people 24/7 and still feel lonely, but the Bible says a lot about loneliness and the fact that we are never truly alone. As human beings, we just want to feel loved at times, and when we don’t feel loved even by the people from whom love is naturally expected, we can make some bad decisions in search of it. I’ve found that people who tend to be bored most of the time are actually people who experience loneliness.
What happens when you feel bored is you then go looking for something to do that takes away the boredom.
Everyone experiences loneliness from time to time.
The Bible says in Genesis 2:18, “It is not good for man to be alone”. It’s a natural feeling. Yet, we often forget the proper response to feeling lonely, which is to turn to Christ, who is the endless source of comfort and companionship. John 14:16 “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever”. I know in my life, since I’ve met Christ, there’s a constant feeling of contentment in my soul.
I can truly say that I lack nothing, because I have found everything in Jesus.
Acts 17:27-28 says “In Christ we live and move and have our very existence.”
What an awesome thing God did for us, He sent His Holy Spirit to dwell in us, fellowship with us 24/7, to comfort us, guide us, and love us. So when loneliness starts to creep in on us, we need to first turn to Jesus. Everything else is a poor substitute. He gets right to the root of the issue and is able satisfy our longing for love and fellowship. Don’t get me wrong, when God saw that it was not good for Adam to be alone, He gave him Eve. So human fellowship is necessary and important, but know that God has also fixed that “alone problem” once and for all when He gave us His Holy Spirit. Now we can be in constant fellowship with our Heavenly Father. Never alone again! Amen.
