One bright sun shining Saturday morning, I was having a sea bath and I noticed a fishing boat on the beach with a rope attached to its anchor. The tide was low enough to enable me to see where the anchor was set in the sand. God spoke to me that morning and He said, ‘I am like the anchor and you are like the boat.’ Then He started to show me how the boat is tossed and turned by the waves, the current and the winds, which represents the everyday troubles we face in this life, such as:- financial problems, failing relationships, sicknesses, unhappiness and temptation. We as the boat, if we do not have an anchor will drift all over the ocean. We may even run aground and be destroyed.

However, if we had an anchor in our life, this will keep us in a safe place and we will not be drawn into places that are not good for us. After about an hour, I came out of the water to relax in the shade on the beach. My sister’s car was parked in a spot that was blocking another vehicle, so she asked me to move it for her. While moving the car, I switched on the radio to tune into one of the Gospel Stations to hear some worship music. I eventually found a station to my liking and in no less than thirty seconds the music stopped. A talk program was about to start and the radio announcer immediately began to speak about a ship and its anchor.

The same revelation I had, just an hour ago, was now being confirmed on the radio.

What this person mentioned though, that I think is vital, was whether there is a chain or rope that links the ship to the anchor. This link represents the relationship we have with God. You see, you could have a boat and you could have an anchor, but if you don’t have a proper chain or rope (relationship), the link can be broken and the boat will eventually drift off or probably run aground.

Now, there are various types of links (relationships), take these for example:

  1. Someone may know everything about the President of the U.S. because another person took the time to tell him about the President.
  2. Someone might have been fortunate enough to meet the President of the U.S. for a one hour visit.
  3. Someone actually resides in the White House with the President and he can speak to the President at certain times of the day.

In the above three examples, we can deduce that the person in number three has the best and the strongest relationship with the President, because the President knows him.

You see, some of us go to church once a week to listen to the priest or leader speak about God and tell us all the good things He can do for us in our lives. We say, well this is my link with God. Some of us have been even more fortunate to feel the great presence of God for a while, but the time was so short spent, that the feeling faded away as the days passed by. Yes these are links; however, they are not strong enough to protect you from the storms of life. The link will soon break under the pressure. But then there are those of us who have invited Jesus to live inside of us and we have access to Him 24/7.

Jesus says in (John 10: 27-30), “My sheep hear my voice, I know them, and they follow Me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish-ever! No one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. The Father and I are one.”

I believe that the strongest link you could ever have with God, is a personal relationship with Him, through His Son Jesus Christ.

Jesus knows us because His Spirit lives inside of us.

Whatever God promises, He is sure to keep. (Hebrew 6:19-20) We have this hope – like a sure and firm anchor of the soul – that enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain. Jesus has entered there on our behalf as a forerunner, because He has become a “high priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.” We are the captains of our boats and we are given a free choice to select our link for the anchor. God does not force Himself upon us, because He knows that forcing someone to do something against their will is not true love. Our Father loves us so much, that He has given us the opportunity to choose a personal relationship with Him and we are guaranteed that He will never let us go.

The only way He will let go, is if we want Him to release us from His grip.

I urge you to invite Jesus Christ into your life today, to be your Lord and Savior. Experience what it is like to have this one on one relationship with Him. It is the most important decision you would ever have to make in your life on this earth, because it determines if you will live forever.

Lord, we thank you for being the anchor in our lives. Father, help us to find the correct link with you through your Son, Jesus Christ, so that we will always be in the palm of Your hands and nothing will be able to separate us from you.

God Bless.
