Have you ever thought about what it’s like to be a son, rather than just a servant of God? Imagine that you are a servant of Prince William and his wife. Boy, are you lucky, they both have great personalities, you get to know them and tell your friends about them… but there’s obviously a line you can’t cross.

You have to talk to them in a certain manner and behave in a certain manner or it would be disrespectful and you can lose your job.

However, imagine you were their son. Wow. Their son would be able to do whatever he wanted.

Their son would talk in whatever way he wanted, though they may correct him and their son would be allowed to sleep on their bed, eat their food and have the same royal friends. In the same way, there’s a difference between relating to God as a son and as a servant.

John 15:15 says, I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

Wow. That’s all I can say. Anyhow, I have three ways to tell if you relate to God as a son or as a servant. If you can think of anymore, leave it in the comments below!

A servant cannot miss a church service

Have you ever felt like you had better be at every church service or the pastor will be angry at you? Or, have you ever felt as though you have to go to church to make God happy and to hear from Him? Of course, church is a place of encouragement and a great place to fellowship… But, that’s not the only place. Actually, God made it possible that you would never have to use your gas and dress up nicely to hear His voice and be in His presence. God lives in you.

If you need Him, He is in you.

He is not far from you and you can hear His voice and He can talk to you in your room, in your pyjamas.

A servant longs to be like his master

Honestly, who doesn’t want to be like Prince William, or at least Kate Middleton. They’re both good-looking, royal, rich and perfect! I’m sure every servant in their house says “wow, if only I was the one born into royalty!” And, that’s what servants say. But, children ARE born into royalty. And guess what, you are a child of God. So, instead of wishing you were rich, good-looking and perfect, just believe and accept that you are because God, the King of the Universe is your father.

A servant can lose his job

Any servant gets paid to serve. If you are Prince William’s servant, I bet you get paid a lot. Anyhow, each servant has to walk around with a type of fear. They have to walk around making sure they do the right thing and that they don’t slip up, because they can lose their job. After all, it’s just a job. They’re just there to make whoever they are serving happy. A son, however, cannot lose his job. A son was born a son and will forever be a son. Even if the son goes astray, it’s just “the prince’s son-gone astray.” Even with God, we saw in the story of the sons, that the son went astray, but when he came back, he was still a son.

You can’t lose your position as God’s son!

So, if you are not a child of God, it’s easy to become one because that’s why Jesus died. Jesus (God’s son) died, in your place so that you can be His son too. And, if you are God’s son already, let’s believe all that He has done for us and walk in it.
