stephen was a young boy who was very gifted mechanically. He spent his first summer vacation after primary school building a remote control sports car, which he was very proud of.
This car was really fast, top of the line and the envy of all the kids in the neighborhood. Then, one day, Stephen took the car out to drive in the local mall car park.
However, he left it alone for a moment to use the washroom and it was stolen.
The thief took the car to an unscrupulous store owner in the mall who cleaned it up to look like new and placed it in his showcase for sale.
About one week after the incident, Stephen was walking through the mall and he saw the car in the showcase. He went into the store to take a closer look and he immediately realized that this was his precious missing car. Stephen had no way to prove that the car was his, so if he wanted it back, he knew he would have to buy it from the store owner.
Stephen set out to do odd jobs such as mowing lawns, delivering newspapers, washing cars and other tasks. When he had finally earned enough money, he walked into the store and proceeded to repurchase his remote control car.
He took it in his hands, placed it against his chest and he said “Now you are mine, I made you and now I have bought you!”
(Psalm 107:2) “Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy.”
(Ephesians 1:7) “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.”
To redeem means to buy back. We all were once slaves to sin, displayed in Satan’s market place, which is this world. However, our maker and Lord, Jesus Christ, loved us so much that He bought us back with His own precious blood. The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. We are the ones who should be on the cross, but Jesus took our place. He died on the cross so that He could pay the full price to purchase our redemption.
Lord, we thank You for taking Your time to make each and every one of us. We thank you for the blood of Jesus Christ. We proclaim that through His blood, we have been bought back and we are redeemed out of the hand of the devil. We declare that by His blood, we have been transferred from the enemy’s hand to the hand of the Lord and nothing is going to pluck us out of His hand. Amen.
