Most people have been in that place. The place of feeling that you disappointed God and that you aren’t worthy to be called a child of God again.
There was a guy in the Bible that felt that way too. It says in Luke 15:21-22 NKJV:
And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ “But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet.
Isn’t that strange? No matter what happened, the Father never changed the way He saw His son.
He had no intentions of disowning him.
And maybe that’s just what parents do or what love does. It says in 1 Corinthians 13 that Loves hopes all things, believes all things, endures all things…
This son believed that because he had sinned so greatly against his father, that he shouldn’t even be called his son anymore. And often, most of us feel that way too. But this story gives hope that somehow God’s love for us is bigger than the wrong we have done. It says that God is still willing to have us as sons no matter what we have done.
God is clearly the best father ever.
Truly, God’s love for us does not change. He will never reject us as His children. I believe however, when we realize what a glorious thing it is to be His child that we will naturally begin to walk worthy of the high calling we have in Him, knowing that walking worthy is not what makes us worthy.
You are God’s child, don’t doubt that. And once you go to your Father, He will provide everything you need for life and for godliness. Don’t turn away from God because you feel unworthy. Rather run back to Him and let Him restore your life.
