Cain and Abel represent two types of people on the earth. Cain represents those that toil and depend on the fruit of their own works to make them righteous. Abel represents those that trust in the blood of Jesus to make them righteous. Self righteousness vs God’s righteousness.
Works vs Faith. Goats vs Sheep.
God saw this tendency in man to trust in his own works to make him righteous when Adam and Eve became tailors in the garden and sewed fig leaves. God sent a man named Moses with a singular mission, to end self-righteousness. The goal of the 10 commandments is to make you know that without Christ you are not good.
Romans 3:19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
Have you ever lied? Have you ever looked at woman or a man that is not your spouse with lust? Have you ever stolen something? – well you are guilty.
Moses’ job was to reveal the need for the Saviour. Jesus Christ came to make you righteous by His blood.
Ephesians 2:7-9 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Why not receive the kindness of God? Jesus was beaten, slapped, spat upon, dragged through the streets like a dog, nailed and crowned with thorns for you. It is God’s love for you. Jesus has taken the place of the guilty; the Blood of Innocent for the blood of the guilty. His Blood is an invitation to draw nigh to God and fall in love with Him.
Take a fresh look at the Cross and hear the words of Love – “Father, forgive them”
It is finished…..why not turn from sin and believe in God’s love towards you…..
