There are two main ways that the Lord corrects His people. If you have a child who is going to put his finger in an electrical socket, a loving parent will shout out “Don’t put your finger there!”

But how do you correct a child that refuses instruction and continues to do the wrong thing?

The worst type of correction is when God allows your sins to correct you.

“Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Repent, turn away from your idols, and turn your faces away from all your abominations. For anyone of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell in Israel, who separates himself from Me and sets up his idols in his heart and puts before him what causes him to stumble into iniquity, then comes to a prophet to inquire of him concerning Me, I the Lord will answer him by Myself.” Ezekiel 14:6-7

It is hard to correct or offer advice to someone who has an idol set up in their hearts. Every word, advice or scripture will be twisted to serve this idol.

The Lord has a unique way of correcting those He loves.

It is my prayer that the Lord always corrects me as a loving Father and that I never be so stubborn that my sins have to correct me.

“Your own wickedness will correct you, And your apostasies will reprove you; Know therefore and see that it is evil and bitter For you to forsake the LORD your God, And the dread of Me is not in you,” declares the Lord GOD of hosts. Jeremiah 2:19
