It can be difficult to find that special someone that you will spend the rest of your life with. This road can be filled with hurt and disappointment.

Megamind is the story of a villain but, not an ordinary villain, a super-villain who falls in love (hey, don’t you just love this movie!) Driven by love this super-villian becomes a superhero – love has a way of bringing out the best in us huh.

I guess, we were all villains at sometime, some more super than others.

There is nothing more transforming than love, when someone looks at us and sees value or something of worth. As a 17 year old dude, I experienced the love of Jesus, and was changed forever – I went from a villain to a child of God in a moment.

There are a lot of courses about change and change management and we often expect change to be a long, drawn out process. The Bible however tells us of a change that is coming where our earthly bodies will be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye. Our natural bodies will become eternal and incorruptible. When I gave my life to Jesus, I was instantly changed from the depths of my heart. I went from villain to child of God in a moment, forever changed by the love of God. I felt like I was baptized in a substance called love and every part of my being came alive. My heart was changed!

Hey, we can meet someone but not truly meet their heart. As Megamind puts it in his epic battle with Titan, the wannabe supervillain:

Megamind: You dare challenge Megamind?!
Titan: This town isn’t big enough for two supervillains!
Megamind: Oh, you’re a villain all right, just not a SUPER one!
Titan: Oh yeah? What’s the difference?
Megamind: Presentation!

People can be very skilled at presentation. You can marry a presentation and only years later discover their heart. When all the lights, make-up, smooth talk, fancy restaurants and smiles are gone – who are you really?

Intimacy is all about unmasking the presentation to reveal nakedness (the real you).

Do ya like me now?

Lessons From Megamind

Nothing invites intimacy more than unconditional love. It is in God’s unconditional love that super-villains are changed. We dare stand before God without “PRESENTATION!”.

Hey, talking about “PRESENTATION!!!” not a hypocritical presentation but the kind that comes from the heart….. Nothing beats the Cross! What a “PRESENTATION!” – Super Love on display by a Super God. A love that is displayed! What’s the difference ya say?

Pierced, wounded, bloodied, spit on his face, stripes on His back, insulted, crowned with thorns, – with a shout that reached Heaven – Father! Forgive Them!

What a PRESENTATION that has forever won my heart! Everything else is just shadows and dust…… (lessons from Gladiator…)
