Happy New Year to all! I pray that this year brings you closer to Christ as His return draws near. The realm of time is temporary, but what you do in time will determine how you spend eternity. I urge you to seek truth and not religion. Let your New Year’s resolution be an affirmation of where you spend eternity.

How sad it would be to live this life in time and have everything this world could offer; a beautiful house, luxury cars, wonderful family, but then die and have nothing but eternal torment. Matt 16: 26 For what does it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

The bible shares a story of two men who lived completely different lives, and where they both ended up, allow me to share it with you.

Luke 16:19-31 Jesus said, “There was a certain rich man who was splendidly clothed in purple and fine linen and who lived each day in luxury. At his gate lay a poor man named Lazarus who was covered with sores. As Lazarus lay there longing for scraps from the rich man’s table, the dogs would come and lick his open sores.

“Finally, the poor man died and was carried by the angels to be with Abraham. The rich man also died and was buried, and his soul went to the place of the dead. There, in torment, he saw Abraham in the far distance with Lazarus at his side.

“The rich man shouted, ‘Father Abraham, have some pity! Send Lazarus over here to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue. I am in anguish in these flames.’

“But Abraham said to him, ‘Son, remember that during your lifetime you had everything you wanted, and Lazarus had nothing. So now he is here being comforted, and you are in anguish. And besides, there is a great chasm separating us. No one can cross over to you from here, and no one can cross over to us from there.’

“Then the rich man said, ‘Please, Father Abraham, at least send him to my father’s home. For I have five brothers, and I want him to warn them so they don’t end up in this place of torment.’

“But Abraham said, ‘Moses and the prophets have warned them. Your brothers can read what they wrote.’

“The rich man replied, ‘No, Father Abraham! But if someone is sent to them from the dead, then they will repent of their sins and turn to God.’

It’s a New Year!

“But Abraham said, ‘If they won’t listen to Moses and the prophets, they won’t listen even if someone rises from the dead.’

Listen to this preacher now, while you live in the realms of time. Seek the truth; don’t be fooled by the deceitfulness of this world and its temporary pleasures. Don’t get me wrong, enjoying the simple pleasures of this life is okay, we all want a nice house and family etc, and these are all blessings from God, but to have those things and not have eternal life would be a complete waste, I’d rather be the beggar if it means making it to heaven to spend an eternity with my Father. Making it to heaven is easy.

You just have to believe in what the Son of God did for us on Calvary and repent of your sin.

The truth is Jesus, and what He did for us. If you want to start this New Year a fresh, free from sin and bondage, walking in the grace of God, say this pray with me.

Dear Lord Jesus, I’m a sinner in need of a saviour, You are the only one who died for my sin, and You took my place. I accept you now into my life as my Lord and saviour. I submit to Your will and way. I give you my life. Forgive me of my sins, and come into my life, make me a new creature. Amen!

The best way to start your new year!
