The children of Israel were very stubborn and provoked God to the point that He said to Moses, “Let Me alone, that I may destroy them and blot out their name from under heaven; and I will make of you a nation mightier and greater than they.” Deut 9:14 – Wow, God was going to wipe them out but Moses interceded for them.

How do you think God was feeling when His Only Son was taken?

His son was dragged like an animal, stripped naked, shamed, beaten, slapped, spat upon, nailed on the Cross and had thorns pressed into his head. If you think He was angry with the children of Israel in the time of Moses, imagine the fierceness of His anger to see His Only Son abused by humanity and demons.

As the Armies of Heaven were about to invade the earth with the full wrath of God, Jesus opened His mouth and spoke, not in His defense but in ours. Words that forever made peace between God and man, “Father! Forgive Them!” Angels were shocked and perplexed. His Father smiled, as His Son had paid the ultimate price to reveal to the earth the Father’s love.

God loved us while we were killing Him.

While we were His enemies, He demonstrated the greatest love the world has known. John, the apostle, puts it this way:

“In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” 1 John 4:9-10

What an awesome God! What a love!

“He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken” Isaiah 53:7,8

Why not open your heart today and believe and receive the love of God and the forgiveness of your sins.
