Ever wondered where your identity comes from? Is it from a monkey? Or are you just a piece of cosmic dust? Or could it possibly be that you were created by a creator who loves you?
Many people struggle with various insecurities in life, whether it is with their weight, looks, hair or how they speak; they simply do not fully believe in their capabilities. We were created in the image and likeness of God, yet when people try to find their identity they rarely turn to God or trust Him. Instead, they always seem to look to other people, things or magazines. People even Google ways to improve themselves or go as far as pretending to be someone they are not, just to be accepted.
All of this started when God told Adam “Do not eat of the fruit or you will surely die”. You see the day they ate it, humanity became disconnected from God not only physically but also spiritually.
As time went along, the world and lies began to define us because we no longer knew God.
Most of these lies came from our parents, family and friends who may have spoken so negatively over our lives, that we now struggle to see anything good in ourselves. Jesus came so that we would become His children and not insecure.
We can find our identity in Him once again.
The Bible says that we are not good; we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God. However, it also states that God is willing to change us and live in us to make us His children. We are now – Perfect, Blameless, Accepted, Faultless, Beautiful, Rich, Righteous, Holy, Justified, Sanctified, Forgiven & Loved in Christ.
If you have been struggling with your identity, why not look to Your Maker to discover who you are and what you were created to be; then and only then, can you live life the way God intended it to be.
