Jesus encountered a man who was sick for a long time and asked him a question, “….One of the men lying there had been sick for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him and knew he had been ill for a long time, he asked him, “Would you like to get well?” John Chapter 5
You might ask why would Jesus ask such a question, seeing that the man was sick. Well after having a condition for such a long time you can begin to accept it as a way of life or a part of you. You begin to possess the condition and make it your own. You may say, “I am a diabetic” or “I am a smoker” or “I am an alcoholic”. You can begin to identify with the condition.
As a pastor, we frequently have to cast out demons from people and one of the most common statements by demons is, “I have been with him since he was a child!”
All demons are essentially liars.
The Bible tells us when we know the truth, the truth will set us free. Similarly, if you know or believe lies it will put you in bondage. A lie can get so deeply rooted into you that you can firmly believe it.
Maybe you are battling a sickness and you have been fighting so long that you are starting to believe that you will never get better. It has become hard to see a brighter day. Or maybe from a child you believed that you are a homosexual or a lesbian and cannot see another life.
Jesus’ question to you is, “Would you like to be free?” Freedom starts by trusting Jesus, by saying it doesn’t matter how long I have experienced or believed a lie, today I choose to believe the truth.
The truth is Jesus paid the price for the forgiveness of your sins and the healing of your body.
God wants the truth to be in your heart and in your mouth. The Bible says, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9. Hey, you don’t have to make it happen, that’s God’s job but you have to believe and speak.
Why not start believing and speaking today.
You can say, “In the name of Jesus, I am healed!” or “I am a child of God!” or “I am forgiven!” or “In the name of Jesus, I have been made righteous!” As you believe and speak the truth, it will change your facts and set you free from every demonic attack.
As you walk in the truth, you will get so radical in faith that you won’t even accept the smallest lie. I want to encourage you today to take your eyes off the facts and place them firmly on the truth. Your facts can and will change but the truth will always remain the same.
