“I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night…” Isaiah 62:6
If a Church is really doing the work of God on the earth one thing you are sure of is that Satan will send people into that Church. God has appointed Watchmen in the Church to spot people on satanic assignments.
“For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Go, set a watchman, let him declare what he seeth.” Isaiah 21:6
As a pastor, I have observed a wide range of satanic assignments. Many of the attacks are targeted to the main pastor of the Church or its leaders or the leader’s children. It is common for witches and warlocks to infiltrate a Church to try to gain a demonic foothold in a ministry and in the lives of God’s people.
The following are some of the assignments I have observed:
- Sexual assignments with the goal of engaging in fornication with believers in the Church.
- False preachers sent to infiltrate the Church with false doctrines.
- Witches, who through relationships, try to determine weaknesses in individual lives by winning the confidence of members. These witches then try to cast spells.
- People sent to bring division in a Church that is filled with God’s love.
Here is one of ways you can distinguish between people on satanic assignments and people who are just struggling with sin:
When the watchmen rise up and begin to correct and cry out, these people either run from the Church or rise up against the leadership. People who are just struggling with sin, simply repent when corrected. Believers in the Church who are ignorant of Satan’s devices can begin to side with Satan’s forces and stand against God’s watchmen. The Watchmen must not get weary but still cry loud!
You say how do I know or understand what I must do in these situations? It is simple Satan is the Man of Sin; where do people stand concerning sin. Are they willing to repent? If the answer is no! – then these people are on Satan’s side.
The following are some of the effects of satanic attacks:
- Discouraged leaders
- Health issues in leadership
- Financial lack in the Church
- Disunity among members
- Loss of passion among members through the weariness of conflict and warfare.
It is common that a guy will come into a Church and shout “amen!” and really agree with the pastor, Bible in hand, lift their hands and worship. The women without discernment who are waiting a long time for a husband see this guy and think he is a potential husband. The resulting suffering and pain can be great.
Satan wants to silence the Watchmen in the local Church and the body of Christ. Satan wants the Watchmen to get weary.
Satan says, “Don’t watch!” and he wants the Church to think they are Old Testament preachers but the Book of Hebrews tell us plainly that New Testament leaders are called to “watch”. (Hebrews 13:17)
Watchmen are a unique breed within the Church; they have sharp discernment, intense love, total hatred for sin and eagle eyes. They are given supernatural strength to stand on the walls. They cry loud and spare not – nothing gets pass them. They hear God’s voice and thoughts constantly and are no respecter of persons. They are not middle men but hear directly from God. These Watchmen are equipped with dreams and visions and the Spirit of prayer.
I believe there is a strong unction and command from the Lord to all God’s Watchmen:
“But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand.
So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.” Ezekiel 33:6-7
Watchmen stand at a vantage point and they see. You say, “What do they see?” They see Satan’s swords before it hits and they blow the trumpet. Are there watchmen in your Church? Do you know them? Do you honor them? When they blow the trumpet do think it is man’s opinion?
Oh Church, woe to them who do not arm themselves when the watchmen blows the trumpet.
“Rise Up, Stand on the Walls, Look, See, Cry Loud, Spare not, Blow the Trumpet! The Righteous shall hear and the Wicked shall be no more!” says the Spirit of the Lord.
