“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.” Romans 5:1-2
By faith we access the grace of God. Grace is not automatic, it must be accessed by faith. Many preach grace without faith which eventually makes grace a license to sin. Essentially, they preach – it’s all grace, forgiveness, righteousness and healing without explaining the importance of accessing grace by faith. Grace is God’s supernatural power or the finished work of Jesus Christ in our lives causing us to experience the realities of the Gospel.
It will either be by your own works or by God’s finished work.
Surely, faith without works is dead. This verse from the book of James is often quoted without a true understanding of its meaning. Faith will always result in works but the works that accompany faith are not works of human strength but works of God’s grace. Faith connects us to God’s supernatural ability.
Others preach faith without revealing God’s grace. This in itself will eventually make faith a work of human strength and cause people to trust in their faith or themselves and fall short of the grace of God.
There is a big difference between having faith in God and having faith in faith.
I want to encourage you to have faith in God. As you place your trust in God’s word and His promises it will release the grace of God to make all God’s promises a reality. Take a step of faith empowered by God’s grace.
