The Cross is all about living life in Christ. Many people consider life’s problems to be their cross, but that looks more like life’s burdens. Jesus says to cast our burdens on Him because He cares for us.
The burden of the Lord is light and His yoke is easy.
Your Cross is what you carry to abide in the love of God. Your Cross is all about being crucified in Christ so that you can walk in the newness of life by the Spirit of God. The Cross is how we have fellowship in the Gospel. By faith, we believe we are crucified, it is finished and we are dead and buried so that we can now live in Christ. Maybe there is sin, lust, fornication or pornography in your life, but we know that those things are not in the life of Christ.
Sin is proof that your old man is alive and well. We take up our cross daily so that we can live in Christ daily. “But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.” (1 John 2:5-6) The proof that we are in Him is going to be manifested in our walk.
The Cross is all about putting off the old man, so that we can put on the new man that is created after the image of Christ.
It is all about repentance and faith. Philippians 3:18 “For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ.”
Here is a simple example of how a believer should take up his Cross daily: Maybe you are struggling with porn. You say this behavior or action is definitely not in Christ. So see yourself in Christ on the Cross and believe that lust is crucified, dead and buried. Say, “you spirit of lust I cast you off my life in Jesus’ name!” Now, put on the life of Jesus. The life of Jesus is a life free from sin and filled with love – this is how you can know Christ is in you and you are in Him.
